Dearborn Academy Benefit 2019

The 2019 Dearborn Academy Annual Benefit brought parents, alums, donors and others together for dinner, cocktails and an inspiring program to support the remarkable progress of our students, children and adolescents in grades 3-12 with learning and social-emotional challenges.

The benefit offered new surprises — from demonstrations of our woodworking and jewelry-making classes to comedy by the nationally-acclaimed comic sensation Patricia Terrasi of the Shut Up Sisters. The benefit supported the bold innovation in hands-on learning experiences that have made Dearborn’s special education program so effective for so many students since our founding in 1949.

We began the evening with demonstrations in our state-of-the-art woodworking, metal and jewelry-making classes — while everyone enjoyed appetizers. Then:

  • Visited food stations with savory delights and bites.
  • Learned more about our innovative academic and therapeutic methods with hands-on table activities.
  • Laughed-out-loud at comedy from with Patricia Terrasi from the duo Shut up Sisters.
  • We also thanked and cheered members of this year’s Distinguished Service Award recipients, the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association. The Association has supported Dearborn’s shop classes for many years.

NOTE: If you missed the Benefit but would like to donate to Dearborn Academy, we greatly appreciate it. See the DONATE button at the bottom of this webpage. Thank you.
